Samuel S. Malone, 72, a resident of Cleveland and a native of Sheffield, AL, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in a local healthcare facility. He was a member of Central Church of Christ in Dalton, Georgia and attended Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Cleveland, TN. He received his B.S. Degree from Auburn University in industrial engineering and remained an avid fan for the remainder of his life. He was a member of Dalton Optimist Club for 35 years and was a former counselor with Junior Achievement. He was employed with Stromquist Inc. in Atlanta for 23 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Malone was the son of the late Sidney Wallace Malone and Pauline Williams Malone. He is survived by his wife of 21 years Patricia Hunt Malone of Cleveland; Sam’s three children, Scott S. Malone and wife Rhonda of Varnell, GA, Lori Malone Bledsoe of Chattanooga and Paige Malone Hemphill and husband Mike of Cumming, GA; Pat’s son, C. Todd Sutherland and wife Kristi of Huntsville, AL; four grandchildren: Drake Malone, Christian Sutherland, Jason Sutherland and Brianna Sutherland; one sister, Paula McKinney of Sheffield, AL; one niece and one nephew also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2011 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Minister Jerrie Barber, Pastor Robert Smith and Minister James Brownlee of the Dalton Optimist Club officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Scott Malone, Clarence Tidwell, Tim Jones, Randall Talley, Jim Hunt, Rick Hunt and Jerry Hunt will serve as pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the funeral home.
