Ethel Hope DeHowitt (Albornoz), lovingly known as “Mimi”, 78, a resident of Cleveland, left the loving arms of her family to be in the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 28, 2011. Born in Quito, Ecuador, she and her family moved to Cleveland in 1965 and became citizens of the United States in 1970. She was retired from Duracell where she had many friends. She was a parishioner at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nazario and Rosa DeHowitt; sister, Mary Ruth Endara; and grandson, Curtis MacMillan “Mac” Horner, Jr. She is survived by her four children: Maurice (Joy) Albornoz of Cleveland; Edward (Crystal) Albornoz of Hendersonville; Monica Horner of Los Angeles, CA; and Paulina (Mel) Madaris of Chattanooga; grandchildren: Jamie (Doug) Evans, Christina (Jason) Gravell, Maurice Albornoz, Jr., Shania Albornoz, Hope Albornoz, Brock and Lexie Tatum, Hope Horner, Chase Horner, Jeremy Madaris and Cara (Matt) Gouger; ten great grandchildren; sister, Mae Arlette de Santa Cruz of Quito, Ecuador; cousins, Jack DeHowitt of South Carolina and Zafira DeHowitt Joseph of Alabama; several nieces, nephews and cousins in Ecuador. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 900 Clingan Ridge Dr. NW, Cleveland. Father Antonio Giraldo will be presiding with Chip Hammonds delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church prior to the mass.
