Viola Irene Smith Scroggins, 82, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday, April 11, 2011 surrounded by her loved ones. She was a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. She retired from Hardwick Clothes after thirty years of employment. She had many hobbies including quilting and flower gardening. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Mabel Lane Smith; brother, Danny Smith; and special nephew, Roddy Smith. Survivors include her daughters: Peggy Scroggins of Cleveland and Diane Clements and husband, Mike of Chattanooga; 4 grandchildren: Mary Clements, John Clements, Hannah Cothron and Caleb Clements; 3 great grandchildren: McKinley Cothron, Saylor Cothron and Caylen Bridges; 2 sisters: Faye Smith of Chattanooga and Evelyn Lewis of Montrose, MI; 2 brothers: Bobby Smith of Birchwood and Harold Smith of Higdon, AL; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2011 in McInturf Cemetery with Dr. Tony Wilson officiating. John Clements, Caleb Clements, Mike Clements, Trevor Cothron, Daniel Smith and David Smith will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
