Brown W Sain

Reverend Brown W. Sain, 83, a resident of Cleveland for over 50 years, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011 with his loving family by his side at his home. He was born in Coffee County, TN on August 7, 1927 and was the son of the late Edith “Eddie” Winton Sain and Alvin G. Sain. He attended school in Manchester and graduated from Manchester Central High. He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Chattanooga State. After moving to Cleveland he worked for Bowater Southern as a welder and retired at age 45. He then worked with Bradley County Schools where he was a welding instructor for the vocational department for 18-20 years. He retired again at age 62 and set up a shop at home and did small engines and welding for local people. He loved retirement as he met so many nice people at his home. An untold number of jobs he did was for no pay just to help people. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Cleveland Masonic Lodge. Mr. Sain was called into the ministry and ordained by Council Baptist Church on December 7, 1969. He was pastor at Council Baptist, Eastview Baptist and Four Point Baptist and preached many, many times at Wesley Chapel at Viola, TN. He was a member of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Day and nephews, Kenny Parker and Terry Sain. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean Robinson Sain; daughter, Judy Karen Sain Kirkpatrick; grandson, Matthew Leon Kirkpatrick and wife, Monica; great granddaughter, Mariah Ann Kirkpatrick, all of Cleveland; brothers, Fred Sain and wife, Ogena and their children, Linda, Charles and Lavon, a special nephew and Thomas Sain and friend, Marsha and his children, Shane and Hope; sister, Jane Parker; and niece, Brenda Gaunce, all of Manchester. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Victor Hayes and Pastor Jim Caywood officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.
