Reverend Wayne Cooper peacefully passed to be with his Lord the morning of Thursday, March 3, 2011, experiencing his last nightfall and now living the promise of his salvation. He was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Ota Sue Cooper and his father, Robert Cooper. He is survived by his wife, Devada Ball Cooper and his sons, Eddie Cooper, Tim and Kim Cooper of Cleveland, and his daughter, Debbie and David Tinsley of Miami, Florida and Devada’s daughters, Dianna Calfee and Elang Holden; His mother Martha Cooper of Cleveland. His brothers and sisters Donald Cooper, Wanda Calhoun, Lyman Cooper, Becky Wright, Sarah Elrod, Joe Cooper and Carol Underdown; eight grandchildren also survive. Wayne Cooper was a famously kind and gentle husband, father and grandfather. Uniquely, with his kind smile, strong handshake and gentle touch, he won the affection of many. He served as a Baptist preacher for over 40 years and committed himself to serving the Lord and others. He distinguished himself in the timber and lumber business and managed a successful cattle farm in Old Fort, Tennessee. His greatest legacy was that of a prayer warrior for his family, grandchildren and friends. His unique blend of strength and gentleness wrapped in the qualities of a southern gentleman will live forever in the memories of those who knew him. His presence, service and comfort will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Cedar Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lyman Cooper, Zac Cooper, Allen Calhoun, Steve Gill, Billy Hill, Jimmy Hill and Steve Wright His family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the funeral home and also from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the funeral home prior to the service.
