William “Bill” Hackworth Stewart, 91, a resident of Cleveland passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at a Chattanooga hospital. He worked in the office of the Secretary of Defense-Security at the Pentagon serving from 1948 through August of 1979. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving his country for twenty years and also serving in World War II. He was a member of the Belin United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Jensens Activity Club and the Jensens Bowling League. He was a Past Master of Kemper Lodge #64 in Falls Church, VA and the Past Patron of the Unity Chapter #201 Eastern Star. Mr. Stewart was the son of the late William J. Stewart and Mary Hackworth Stewart and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Beatty and Margaret Fennell. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Stewart of Cleveland;three sons and spouses: Richard (Dick) and June Stewart of Chattanooga, Ron and Missy Stewart of Portland, Oregon and Rob and Julie Stewart of Downers Grove, Illinois; six grandsons and one granddaughter. Ralph Buckner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
