Samuel Jackson Rogers, Jr., 68, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a member of Charleston United Methodist Church. He served as a scout master for many years, and was a former member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion. Before his retirement, he was employed with Cleveland Utilities for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Samuel Jackson Rogers, Sr. and Martha Anne Nichol Rogers, and sister, Sara Rogers Barham. He is survived by his wife, Jane Rogers of Cleveland; three children: Lisa Rogers Bolus of Texas, Elizabeth Rogers Wilmot of Bryson City, NC, and Sonya Francis and husband Mike of Ringgold, GA; two step-daughters: Carol Gaby and husband Greg of Athens, and Mary Jane King of Athens; four grandchildren: Kosi Wilmot, Bear Wilmot, Max Francis and Lori Parris; one great grandchild: Grace Hodges; two sisters: Lois Anne Rogers of Cleveland, and Mary Crisp of Paducah, KY; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2010, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Mack McCoin and Harry Cantrell officiating.
