Dennis Eugene Brantley, age 63, of Charleston, formerly of Maryville, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 29, 2010 at his home with his family by his side after a hard fought battle with cancer. Dennis was a very well loved and much respected man. He loved playing with his grandchildren, watching football and fishing with his sons, talking on the phone with his friends and staying home and watching movies with his wife of 43 years. He enjoyed gardening, the occasional trip to Harrah’s and listening to the Gaithers. He was a member of North Cleveland Baptist Church. He was a retired employee of Roadway with 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie and Lloyd Brantley of Rockford, TN and nephew, Timothy Arp of Seymour, TN. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Janice Hayes Brantley; sons and spouses: Daren and Jennifer Brantley and Chad and Heather Brantley all of Cleveland; grandchildren: Nicholas, Will and Ashtyn Brantley all of Cleveland; sisters: Janice Satterfield of Maryville, TN and Donna and husband David Arp of Seymour, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2010 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Richard Barr officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Doug Young, Doug “Bear” Bryant, Lowell Burkhart, Bob Boling, John Mills and Steve Wolfe will serve as pallbearers. His friends from Roadway will serve as honorary pallbearers. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the funeral home.
