Richard E. Tomlinson, 79, a resident of Calhoun, passed away Friday, October 22, 2010, at his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce serving during the Korean Conflict. He was in real estate sales and was a member of Riceville Church of Christ where he taught Sunday School, led singing and was involved in various ministries. He loves driving a school bus for the Cleveland City schools. He was also a private airplane pilot. His parents, Roy and Corney Seymore Tomlinson, preceded him in death as well as a sister, Phyllis Ramsey, brother, Don Tomlinson, son-in-law, Tommy Powell, and granddaughter, Sheena Stone. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruby Simpson Tomlinson of Calhoun; four children: Randy Tomlinson and wife Devonna of Charleston, Belinda Powell of Ten Mile, Regina Townsend and husband Ron of Ten Mile, and Donna Walsh of Riceville; eight grandchildren; Christy Gibson, Matthew Yates, Valynn Yates, Shona Burden, Marc Powell, Mindy Cox, Tyler Cox, and Michael Townsend; six great-grandchildren; three sisters: Gaye Boothe of Manchester, Brenda Miller of Big Stone Gap, VA, and Betty Marcum of Hamilton OH; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 25, 2010, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Minister Donnie Cable officiating. Entombment with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens concluding with a white dove release. Ron Townsend, Bobby Stone, Marc Powell, Tyler Cox, David Berry and Larry Graves will serve as pallbearers with Phillip Shelton as honorary pallbearer. His family will receive friends from 3 ? 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
