Jessie Gene Payne Sr.

Jessie Gene Payne, Sr., 52, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the family residence. His CB Handle was “Mochanic”. Jessie had a strong desire to live. He had survived active kidney dialysis for nearly 31 years, holding a record in the state of Tennessee. When first diagnosed with kidney failure, dialysis was not available in this area. He traveled three times a week to Nashville for treatment. He was attended Lakeview Church of God. He was a stone mason by trade. He was preceded in death by his father, Hoyle Gene Payne, paternal grandfather and grandmother, Lee and Hazel Payne; maternal grandfather and grandmother, Sammie Lee and Edna Mae Shelton; step-son, Jeremy Leon Payne. He is survived by his wife, Polly Ann Payne of Cleveland; mother, Edith Payne Bates of Cleveland; two sons: Jason William Payne of Clayton, Ala. and Jessie Gene Payne, Jr. and wife April Payne of Cleveland; six grandchildren; two brothers Michael Eugene Payne and Alvin Calhoun and wife Kim Calhoun all of Cleveland; two sisters and spouses: Dana and Hossein Tofangsazan of Los Gatos, CA and Donna and Joe Chastain of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2010 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Dustin Wilds and Pastor A.C. Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Benton with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Brad Hampton, Matthew Bawgus, Scottie Payne, Chandlier Rogers and Dustin Duckett will serve as pallbearers. Michael Payne, Jr. will serve as honorary pallbearer. His family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 18, 2010 at the funeral home.
