Lucille Bates Groomes

Lucille Bates Groomes, 82, of Georgetown, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010 in a local hospital. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Alice Slack Bates; husband, James Groomes; three brothers, Oscar “Dink” Bates, J.L. Bates, and Jimmy Bates; and three sisters, Jessie Trentham, Lowtrell Thompson and Lois Dean Jones. She is survived by seven nieces, Wanda Eichholtz of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, Linda Bates, Brenda Bates and Sherril Bates, all of Tennessee and Sandy Shew, Henrietta McConnell and Diana Bramlett, all of Cleveland; and five nephews, Raymond A. Matthews, Ricky Jones, Gary Bates and Ras Matthews, all of Cleveland and Ronnie Jones of Georgetown. An inurnment will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens. Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
