Melvin Gibson

October 24, 1934 — March 23, 2010

Melvin “Moose” Gibson, 75, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 in a local hospital. He was of the Nazarene Faith. He was a machinist for Peninsula Paper Company in Ypsilanti, Michigan for twenty years. After retirement he was a newspaper carrier for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Gibson and Ethel Cooper Gibson; four brothers: John H. Gibson, Eli Gibson, Richard Gibson and Marshall Gibson; and one sister, Susie Warick. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lois Gibson; one daughter, Cathy Whaley Caldwell and husband, Jackie all of Cleveland; beloved cat, Molly and grand dog, Furby; special adopted family which he loved as his own, Pam Pfeifer and husband, Ron and son, Jeffrey of Brighton, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Kenneth Stansberry officiating. Interment will follow in Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Johnny McKinney, Allen Fain, Robin Carter, Jeff Pfeifer, Jackie Caldwell and Jack Caldwell serving as pallbearers. Eddie McAlister and Ron Pfeifer will serve as honorary pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. His family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 at the funeral home.
