Donald (Sonny) A. Zanker, Jr., a resident of Athens and Cleveland for the past thirty years, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2014 at the home of his sister. He was born on March 22, 1937 in Ellisburg, NY. He was a retired auto mechanic. He was of the Baptist faith.
Donald served in the United States Army for 11 years and will be greatly missed. We love you, Uncle Daddy.
Mr. Zanker was preceded in death by his father, Donald A. Zanker, Sr.; mother, Geneva P. Bedore Zanker; sisters, Gloria Thompson and Elizabeth Bartlett; brother, Leonard W. Zanker and son-in-law, Joseph H. Schafer.
He is survived by his wife, Norma E. Zanker of Athens; sister, Barbara Erwin of Cleveland; several children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At his request there will be no services.
Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
