Barbara Jean Smith

September 19, 1958 — January 24, 2017

Barbara Jean Wojcik Smith, 58, of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at the family residence.  She was a former resident of West Palm Beach, Fla.  She was a member of South Mountain Baptist Church in Franklin County, near Gettysburg. In addition, she was associated with First Baptist Cleveland.

 

She was a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and other honor societies at Lycoming College. She excelled as a reading teacher in several school systems including Coats, N.C., and a charter school in West Palm Beach, Fla. Barbara served as a youth leader in her church and enjoyed walking and exercise.

 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Theresa Wallace Wojcik.

 

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Michael Ray Smith of Lee University; two children, Shannon Ryals and husband, Michael of Kingsport, Tenn., and Taylor Smith of Paris, France; father, John Wojcik of Columbia, Md.; father-in-law, William O. Smith and mother-in-law, Ceedie R. Smith of Waynesboro, Pa; two grandchildren, Madison Ryals and Abigail Ryals, both of Kingsport, Tenn.; two brothers, John Wojcik of Columbia, Md., and Michael Wojcik of Alexandra, Va.; and a sister Mary Ann McKeown of Alexandria. In addition, several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home in Waynesboro, Pa., with a service led by the Rev. David Keener at 11 a.m. Interment will be conducted at the Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro, Pa.
