Jewel L. Gardner

Jewel Gardner, 89, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at her home.  She had been a resident of Cleveland since 1970 and a member of Valley View Baptist Church.

Jewell was a retired chicken and cattle farmer.  She had a love for the outdoors and took a lot of pride in her yard and farm.  Her great love was for her family and her dogs.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Grace Lomax of Jackson, TN; her husband of almost 40 years, James “Jim” Gardner; and her son-in-law, Larry Jordan of Cleveland.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandie Turner and her husband Dewey Turner, and Juan Jordan, both of Cleveland; two grandsons, James Lewis Turner and his wife Jennifer Goins Turner of Rossville, GA, and Dewey L. Turner, Jr.; two great grandchildren, Chloe and Eli Turner of Rossville, GA; three sisters, Norma Smith of Jackson, TN, Joan Dickinson of San Diego, CA, and Pat Grimsley and her husband Jerry of Union City, TN; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to express a very special thank you to her caregivers, Hillary Stewart, Samantha Wilson, Amanda Daniels, and Lana Campbell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon Thursday, April 6, 2017 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Cameron officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
