George W Kerruish

George William Kerruish, age 88, passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Etowah Health Care Center in Etowah TN.  Born October 12, 1928, George was the only child of Ernest and Lillian (Moore) Kerruish of Cleveland OH.  George made a career of working for the railroad and retired in 1991 from CSX.  After retiring George and his wife Ruby moved to Cleveland, TN.  He joined Tasso Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN where he and his wife became active members.  They loved the church and the members there, always helping wherever needed.  George loved working with his hands, especially with wood, and had many happy hours doing projects for family and friends.  He loved people and always had a great big smile on his face.  He loved to joke and he loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Lillian Moore; son, David Kerruish and wife Kathy, both of Houston, TX; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nephews.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruby Jones Kerruish of Cleveland, TN; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Fred Gearrin of Pikeville, TN; grandchildren, Kary Satcher and Jason Satcher of Cleveland, TN, Kelson and wife Anna Kerruish of Houston, TX; and great-grandson, Sailor Hysmith of Cleveland TN.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Caywood, Rev. Kenneth Isbell, and Rev. Steve Jones officiating.  Interment will follow at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Turtletown TN with Larry Cunningham, Jason Satcher, Kelson Kerruish, Glen Stiles, Eric Jones, and Michael Rose serving as pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the funeral home.
