Richard Wesley Covrea, Sr.

March 3, 1937 — May 1, 2017

Richard Wesley Covrea Sr. passed away Monday May 1, 2017 at a Chattanooga hospital.

 

Richard was born in Hamtramck, MI to Charles and Aurelia Covrea.  He graduated from Southfield High School.  After graduation he joined the United States Army, where he served in Fort Benning, GA.  Later he was employed by Ford Motor Company, where he retired.

 

Richard loved his church family at Michigan Avenue Baptist, where he served at a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.  He also loved reading and studying the Bible, and watching Detroit Tigers baseball.  Richard was a devoted husband and father. 

 

He is preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Alnora Covrea, and also his parents Charles and Aurelia. 

 

He is survived by his son, Richard Covrea Jr. and wife Jeanne, step-sons, Michael Galia of Lincoln, CA, and Walter Giss of Manhattan, NY, grandchildren Rebecca Kettlewell (Wally) and Andrea Covrea, great grandchildren, Hayley and Wally Kettlewell, all of Marysville, MI, siblings, Charles Covrea of Marysville, MI and Elaine Jordon of California. 

 

A celebration of life service will be held at Michigan Avenue Baptist Church on Friday, May 05, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Victor Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Michigan Avenue Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 04, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
