Walter "Corky" Scott

Walter “Corky” Scott, 96, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his residence.  He was a member of Valley View Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and helped build the church.  He loved helping people and also gardening and fishing.  He was retired from Hardwick Clothing after many years of service.  He served in the Bradley County Civil Defense for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Irene Mayberry Scott; parents, William Franklin Scott and Nora Edna Ashby Scott; three brothers, William Franklin Scott, Jr., Roy Scott, and Gene Scott.

He is survived by his children, Linda Scott Chase of South Pittsburg, TN, and Gary Michael Scott and wife, Denice of Bryson City, NC; four grandchildren, Tonya Ramsey, Todd Chase both of Cleveland, Jeff Scott of Soddy Daisy, TN, and Timmy Scott of Bryson City, NC; five great-grandchildren, Anthony Payne and wife Nicky, of Eton, GA, Alex Tinsley, Jordan Scott both of Cleveland, Casey Scott of Bryson City, NC, and Conner Chase of Benton, TN; five great-great-grandchildren, Aubrey Payne, Nevin Payne, Dante Tinsley, Jade Tinsley, and Michael Tinsley; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Brenton Cox and Randy Scott officiating.  Interment will follow in Samples Memorial Baptist Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Vanis Truelove, Richard Hagar, Jim Maynard, Ernest Jackson, Jim Critchfield, and Cole Critchfield will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017 at the funeral home.
