Ronald Jess Queen

Ronald Jess Queen, age 84, of Cleveland, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at a local healthcare facility.  A faithful and loving husband of almost 60 years, as well as a loving and caring father, Mr. Queen spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy where he retired as a Commander.  Because of his love for life and his desire to continue serving, Mr. Queen spent 20 years at Maycor where he enjoyed a second retirement.  Mr. Queen was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where he also taught Sunday School.  He was known as an honorable and patient man and leaves a wonderful legacy of having been a fun and joyous Papaw and Great-Papaw.

Born March 1, 1933 to the late John Dennis and Edna Hargis Queen, he was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Story.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Queen; four children, Audrey Queen Henley (Jerry) of Huntsville AL, Dennis Queen (Angie) of Cleveland TN, Paul Queen of Cleveland TN, and Rev. Thomas Queen (Dr. Paige) of Pietermaritzburg, South Africa; nine grandchildren, Kristen Henley Dawson (Nick), Joseph Henley, Ginny Lou Henley, Paul Henley, Jess Henley, Joy Henley, David Queen, Elizabeth Queen, and Jacob Queen; and two great-grandchildren, Emma Dawson and Anna Joy Dawson.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with his son, Rev. Thomas Queen, officiating.  Rev. Queen will be assisted by Rev. Steve Smartt and Rev. Jimmy Caywood.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.  Interment will follow at Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Westwood Baptist Church Building Fund, 4001 Georgetown Rd NW, Cleveland, TN 37312.
