Glen David Dalton

Glen David “Shorty” Dalton, 88, of Cleveland, went home to be with The Lord on August 9, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.  A lifetime resident of this area, Mr. Dalton loved the outdoors -- he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and working outdoors.  For many years he could also be found playing polo at what is now Bendabout Farms.  He retired from the Cleveland Public Works Department and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Dalton was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Irine Dalton; father, John Rufus Dalton; mother, Lillie Ann Dockery Dalton Hitson; step-father, Hoarce Hitson; son, Roy Glen Dalton; brothers, Thomas Dalton, Billy Dalton, and twin brother, Lynn Dalton; sisters, Ollie Dalton, and Della Vine Pierce.

He is survived by five children, Joyce Moats, George David Dalton, Peggy Ann Prock, John Lee Dalton, and Sharon Bowers, all of Cleveland; brother, Kenneth (Kathleen) Dalton of Coker Creek, TN; sister, Lenora Patterson of Cleveland; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Daniel White officiating and singer Molly White providing special music.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with David Bowers, Ben Bowers, Aberum Bowers, Marty Dalton, Keith Peels, and Scottie Peels serving as pallbearers.  The service will conclude with a white dove release ceremony accompanied by bagpipes.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at the funeral home.
