James (Jim) Frank Arp


James (Jim) Frank Arp, 85, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017, in a local healthcare facility. He was very crafty and enjoyed gardening and mowing the lawn and was known as “UNO Champ”. He was a long time CB enthusiast known as WOUNDED KNEE KAFR 1528. Jim and his wife, Hazel enjoyed traveling and they traveled with the retired teachers to 48 different countries. He was a Mason and a member of Big Spring Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Ceney Elrod Arp and siblings, Dorothy Wilcox, Wade Arp, Flora Peak, Lloyd Arp and Hayden Arp.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Hazel Elizabeth Arp of Cleveland; children, Sandy Thomas (Dennie) of Frisco, TX, Lamar Arp (Kim), of Cleveland and Tony Arp (Marcella), of Cleveland and sister, Ruth Shelton, grandchildren: Dallas Thomas (Stephanie) of Carrollton, TX, Amanda Arp (Jamie) of Cleveland TN, David Arp (Amanda) of Rialto, CA, Riley Arp of Cleveland, TN; great-grandchildren: Gideon Mantooth and Olivia Beckler both of Cleveland, TN, Ava Arp, Dominic Arp both of Rialto, Ca.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Daniel Malone and Lee Arrington officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Kermit Peak, Dallas Thomas, Al Williams, Gideon Mantooth, Jamie Beckler and Charles Sutton serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the James Gang (James Williams and James Upchurch). A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
