Jerry “BoWeevil” Lawson, 79, a native and lifelong resident of Polk County, TN, passed away Tuesday, November 07, 2017. He was a lifelong member of Benton Station Baptist Church. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed farming and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Josephine Elrod Lawson; his parents, Clint Lawson and Mayme McPheeters; great-grandchildren, Kayla York and Fulton York.
He is survived by his four children: Dorothy Banks (Robert) of Cleveland, Diane Earwood (Eddie) of Old Fort, David Elrod of Old Fort, and Teddy Elrod (Donna) of Knoxville; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and also extended family and numerous church family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Brother Joel Jenkins and Brother Ryan Potts officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Station Baptist Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony and bagpipes. Neal Pippenger, Chris Boggs, Junior Yates, Hoss Cochron, Jeff Passmore and Christian Passmore will serve as pallbearers. Benton Station Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Benton Station Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 909 Benton Station Road, Benton, TN 37307.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
