J.D. Harold Evans, age 93, was born on July 13, 1924 to his parents, Arthur and Lula Ellis Evans. He passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 to be with Jesus, his precious Savior. He was a lifelong resident of Bradley County and he was retired from Maytag. He was a deacon of his church, Faith Memorial. He loved to give presents to the needy on Christmas Day! He worked hard in his garden as long as he could.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shirley Evans and his wife, Mildred Jane Burchfield Evans; sisters, Alberta Pruitt and Inez Shell; brothers, Mack Evans and Birch Evans; step-mother, Lois Evans.
He is survived by his son, Harold Evans and wife, Debra; two grandchildren, Summer White and husband, Sam of Cleveland; Daisy Owenby and husband Joshua of McDonald; four great grandchildren, Trinity and Paris Sellers of Cleveland, and Alexandria and Isaac Owenby of McDonald; his sister, Alicene Dunn of Etowah whom he loved very much.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Strickland officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony and bagpipes concluding the service.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service.
