Moses Samuel Ballew, 83, a former resident of Cleveland passed away quietly at home in Villa Rica Georgia on Saturday December 9th, 2017. He was born and raised in Polk County but has lived a majority of his life in Bradley County. He had been a member of Samples Baptist Church for 56 years and a deacon for the last 50 years. He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War and was a retiree of Whirlpool having over 30 years of service. He was devoted to his family and a proud pawpaw of his 26 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Mae Birchfield, parents Aline Davis, Price Ballew, daughters Pam Ballew, Shirley Sampson, sisters Maxine Humberd, Arlene Barnes, Geneva Walker, Linda Ballew and Sandra Yarbrough.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Edna Wilena Campbell Ballew, his children Tammy Ballew Lawson, Jacqueline "Penny" Cimino, Pamela Campbell, Darlena Rogers, Donna Wilson, sons in law, Vince Cimino, Terry Rogers, Joe Wilson, sisters Emma McFarland, Naomi Patterson, Jeanette Casteel, Ann Smith, brothers Stinnett Ballew Wallace Ballew and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and family at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home, Saturday December 16, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday December 17, 2017 at Samples Memorial Baptist Church with Stinnett Ballew, Mark Cameron and Lee Ingram officiating. Interment will follow at Samples Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors, dove release ceremony and bagpipes will conclude the service.
In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions to Samples Baptist Church Mission Fund.
