Virginia "Jimmie" Wallace

April 12, 1928 — December 19, 2017

Virginia Hooper Wallace, of Cleveland, passed away with peace and grace, just as she lived, Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in a Chattanooga healthcare facility. She loved to grow and enjoy flowers in her gardens and delighted in cooking for her ever-growing family, her kitchen was never closed.  A true Southern lady, she exuded a spirit of excellence in everything she did; from the way she dressed, spoke, and carried herself, to her long career at Jafco and great love and commitment to her family and faith.  She truly lived Colossians 3:23 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord." She was a member of First Baptist Church for over 35 years and she lovingly and faithfully prayed for and passed on her heritage of faith to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was showing her love to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Marshall Wallace; parents K.C. and Ruth Hooper, sister Margaret Hooper Western, and granddaughter, Karen Wallace Musgrove.

She is survived by her three children, Gary Wallace and wife, Suzanne, Kay Elder and husband, Melvin and Ila Kirkpatrick and husband, Mike; six grandchildren, Ken Wallace, Amanda Gilbert, Adam Elder, Laura Gregory, Chase Kirkpatrick and Olivia Callahan; great-grandchildren, Brent Musgrove, Jake Musgrove, Emily Musgrove, Garret Wallace, Greyson Wallace, Grace Gilbert, Alexis Gilbert, Jay Gilbert, David Elder, Karma Kirkpatrick, Wyatt Gregory, and Jackson Callahan.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Tom Wickes officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Ken Wallace, Garrett Wallace, Chase Kirkpatrick, Adam Elder, Greyson Wallace, and Josh Gregory serving as pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony and bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service.
