Vera Marie Johnson Ash

Vera Marie Johnson Ash, 94, passed away, April 27, 2018 surrounded by her family in Tennova Hospital after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  She has been a resident of Brookdale Mt. Vernon for the past two years. She was of Church of Christ faith.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas Dewey and Bessie Smith Johnson.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Dorsey Hayden Ash; brothers, Thomas Roy and Chester Johnson and sisters, Mary Nation, Helen Shaffer and Edith McKinney.

She is survived by her children, James Ash (Doris), Ann Kincaid (Larry) and Kay Lee; six grandchildren, Jamie Kincaid (melody), Michelle Scott (David), Jordan Lee, Stephanie Gooch (Scott), Teesha Kile (Billy) and Mark Ash; nine great-grandchildren, Sophie Kincaid, Gage and Jacob Mathews, Jackson and Dylan Kile, Rachael, Emma and Hayden Gooch and Austin Ash; sister, Delvey “Sue” Taylor.

There will be no public visitation and a private graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 in Union Grove Church of Christ Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 9601, Washington, D.C. 0090-6011.
