Phyllis L. Tyner

January 2, 1937 — May 10, 2018

Phyllis L. Tyner, 81, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 at her residence.  Phyllis lived a full life with so many interests.  She loved to play golf and was a member of the Ladies Golf Association at the Cleveland Country Club.  She won the Cleveland Senior Golf Championship. Music was her passion and she sang in church choirs as a child and continued throughout her life, she was a member of  the Broad Street United Methodist Church choir.  She loved to travel with her husband, family and friends and enjoyed ceramics and sewing.

She spent time giving of herself by spending countless hours helping others fighting cancer.  She raised money, sat with patients and listened to their concerns all with a loving selfless attitude.

She will be remembered most as a loving, caring wife and mother to her family, always available with a listening ear.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Anne Atchley Blankenship; son, Keith A. Tyner and siblings, Billie Rose Goode and Rick Blankenship.

She is survived by her husband, Lewis Edward Tyner of Cleveland; children, Jeffery Tyner (Mary) of Brookfield, IL and Matt Tyner (Janet Peshek) of Milwaukee, WI; four grandchildren, Rachel Trezek (John) of Lockport, IL, Jennifer Tyner of LaGrange Park, IL, Nick Tyner of Brookfield, IL and Henry Tetzlaff of Milwaukee WI; three great-grandchildren, Seth and Patrick Trezek of Lockport, IL and Alana Tyner of Forest Park, IL and sister, Karen Wilson (Gene) of SC and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Broad Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Micah Nicholaus and Associate Pastor (retired) Mary Parsons officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church prior to the service.

The family requests the memorials be made to the Mary Ellen Locher Foundation, P.O. Box 4032, Chattanooga, TN 37405; and the Broad Street United Methodist Church choir fund, 155 Central Ave. NW, Cleveland, TN 37311.
