Paul “Corky” McGowan, 72, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Bradley County where he lived all his life. Corky was the owner of Old Fort Restaurant in Cleveland for 28 years and prior to that owned Sugar & Spice Restaurant from 1959 until 1975. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren and the customers he served. Corky was a member of Mt. Olive Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Betty McGowan; sister, Sue McGowan and brother, Jerry McGowan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ann Walker McGowan; 3 children; daughter, Nikky McGowan of Calhoun, TN., Dax Walker McGowan (Brittany) of Cleveland and Scott Paul McGowan (Amy) of Cleveland; 9 Grandchildren: Walker McGowan, Knox McGowan, Baylor McGowan, Kley McGowan, Jaxson McGowan, Kinslee McGowan, Kason McGowan, Maggie Mae Woodfin and Jackson Woodfin; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, 2018 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Sears officiating. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Tim Waldrop, Keith Lewis, Donnie Sullivan, Ron Ricketts, Don Burke, and Donnie Gill serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers include: Jerry Neely, Jim Price, Dennis Black, Tom Johnson, Bob Burris, Tom Crye and Butch Clark.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the funeral home.
