Betty "Ruth" Byrum

Betty Ruth Odom Byrum, 89, of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 in a Chattanooga hospital.  She was a devoted Christian who loved her family and friends.  She was born in Cleveland, Tennessee where she lived her entire life except for a brief time in Michigan. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Odom and Marie Allison Odom; sister, Norma Jean Camp; and brother, Charles Odom, Jr.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Charles E. Byrum; three children, Ronald Lee Byrum and wife Judy of Cleveland, Barbara Byrum Bosserman and husband Jerry of Berryville, VA, and Carl Wayne Byrum and wife Judy of Knoxville, TN; seven grandchildren, Adam Byrum, Kelly Byrum, Ashlee Wright, Louis Chapman, Jennifer Chapman, Brad Byrum, Candice Byrum; eight great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Reverend Donald Camp of Signal Mountain, TN; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Donald Camp and Reverend Guinn E. Green officiating.  Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Jennifer Byrum Chapman, Adam Byrum, Kelly Byrum, Brad Byrum, Matt Byrum, and Cameron Byrum serving as pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
