Bessie Smith

Virginia Bessie Clark Smith, 81, of Georgetown, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at a Chattanooga hospital.  She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church.  Bessie retired as a bus driver with Hamilton County Schools. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Rosco Smith; parents, George P. Clark and Willie Mae Posey Clark; and siblings, Billy Clark and Margaret Campbell.

Survivors include her daughters, Debra Kay Dempsey and husband, Ed of Harrison and Sherri Renee Braley of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Jennifer Renee FeDeleon, Savannah Renee Braley, Walter Grant Braley, Rebecca Kay Stegmaier and Samantha Rae Braley; five great grandchildren, Allanna FeDeleon, Lorelei FeDeleon, Rylan Fedeleon, Logan Stegmaier and Annika Stegmaier; two sisters, Frieda Caldwell and Betty Gentry, both of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Dotson.  Interment will follow at McInturf Cemetery.

Her family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
