Charles Kenneth Lackey, 67, of Dalton, GA, and formerly of Harrison, TN, moved to his final home early Monday morning, December 17, 2018. He was a graduate of Ooltewah High School and a member of The Church of God Union Assembly, Dalton, GA. He was a retiree of Mohawk Industries (Aladdin Industries) with over 30 years of service. He started his career working in the dye lab, and being a hard worker and dedicated employee, many years later, he became Vice President of the small rugs division at Mohawk. He was an employee of TKC Holdings at the time of his death. He was an avid hunter, especially liked deer hunting. He spent many years coaching his son and daughter’s sports teams (softball, baseball, and football) in the Harrison area. He loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Dooley” and Pauline Long Lackey; siblings, Robert Lackey, Paul Lackey, Patsy Plemons, and Wallace Lackey; and one grandchild, Asa Aaron Wynn.
He is survived by his children, Michelle Lackey Wynn and husband Aaron of Johns Creek, GA, and Charles (Kenny) Kenneth Lackey II and wife Jamie of Snellville, GA; three grandchildren, Bailey and Sawyer Lackey and Luke Wynn; sisters, Barbara Ann Kelley of Hixson, TN, Linda Wheeler Hough (Galon) of Ringgold, GA, Becky Lemley (Anthony) of Harrison, TN; brother, Jimmy Lackey of East Ridge, TN; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Lackey of Harrison, TN, and Evelyn Lackey of Georgetown, TN; brother-in-law, Joe Plemons (Judy) of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; the mother of his children, Linda Seals Lackey of Harrison, TN; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Brother Stoney Kiser officiating. Interment will follow in McDonald East View Cemetery in Ooltewah, TN. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018, at the funeral home and on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Michelle and Kenny would like to express their gratitude to their dad’s sister, Becky (Anthony), for opening up their home (immediately and without hesitation) to him during his sudden illness; to dad’s sister Linda who provided care and evening stays as his night nurse; to the mother of his children, Linda and all she provided to her children; to a very special CNA and friend Michael; to the many, many family and friends who came to visit him; and to Hearth Hospice for the care and comfort that they provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trailblazin Christian Bikers at P.O. Box 6554, Dalton, GA 30722 for the great ministry that they provided to Charles and others.
