Ann (Annaliese) Bierl Humphrey

Ann Humphrey, 87, of Cleveland, passed away December 26, 2018 on her eldest daughter’s birthday.  She was surrounded by her loving family in her home.  Ann was a member of the North Cleveland Church of God. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved, Hillbilly soldier, Roy Humphrey, from Maryville, TN. She was the daughter of the late Johann and Betty Bierl of Kitzingen, Germany.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Bierl, Joseph Bierl and a sister, Maria Saromba. 

Survivors include her children: Maria Haney and husband, Rick, of Fuquay Varina, NC, Josef Humphrey and wife, Teresa, of Fayetteville, NC, Lena Barber and husband, Phillip, of Cleveland; 10 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, a loving brother -in-law, Reinhold Saromba residing in Kitzingen, Germany, and several nieces and nephews throughout the United States and Germany, her homeland.

A Gathering of Friends will be on Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 2:00-3:00 at the Dixon Chapel, North Cleveland Church of God with the Celebration of the Fraulein’s life following.   Richard Deem, CEO of Montgomery Area Food Bank; Robert Moore, Director of the Ministry to the Military, and Lena Barber will be officiating. 

Interment will be held on Monday, December 31 at 9:30 a.m., at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.  Trey Adams, Zachary Parker, Kaleb Mosley, Jerry Mosley, Jerry Orr, E. J. Russell and Joseph Humphrey will serve as pallbearers.     A white dove release ceremony and bagpipes rendition of Amazing Grace will conclude the interment service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Ministry to the Military, Church of God General Offices, Cleveland, TN  37311.
