Gwen Srite

Gweneth Jean Howard Srite, 88, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at her residence.  She was born in Bradley County and had lived here most of her life.  She was a member of the Cleveland Church of Christ.   She was a graduate of Bradley Central High School and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  She was a teacher at Bradley Central High School and had taught school for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Dewitt Srite, Jr.; parents, Walter Howard and Leona Finnell Howard; and brother, Vaughn Howard.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Srite of Norcross, GA, Libby Middleton and husband Dan of Norcross, GA, Patty Srite of Cleveland, and Jim Srite and wife Susan of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Rebecca Middleton and husband Jason, Sarah Walls and husband Gordon, Eric Srite, Brian Srite, and Rachel Middleton; one great-grandchild, Jacob Walls; one brother, Charles Howard and wife Pearl; sister-in-law, Bettie Howard; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A celebration of her life will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend David Webb officiating.  A private family burial will take place at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
