George David Bishop

George David Bishop, 67, a native and lifelong resident of the area, passed away in a local hospital on Friday, March 8, 2019.  He was self-employed and had worked as a dairyman.  He was a member of Mt. Zion New Covenant Church of God.

George was preceded in death by his father, Paul Bishop; three brothers, Bill Bishop, Joel Bishop, and Cecil Bishop; and one sister, Diane Davis.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Ruth Bishop of Georgetown; four brothers and their spouses, Paul Ed Bishop Sr. and wife Sally of Georgetown, Alan Bishop and wife Christine of Dalton, GA, Joe Bishop of Georgetown, and Steve Bishop and wife Elaine of Hixson, TN; two sisters, Betty Wilbanks and husband Ed of Jasper, and Nolie Davis and husband Sonny of Georgetown; sister-in-law, Carolyn Bishop of Pikeville; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Davis officiating.  Interment will follow in Davis Cemetery with Paul Bishop, Alan Bishop, Jr., Isiah Kennedy, Jason Kennedy, Alan Wilson, and Billy Goode serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2019 and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019 at the funeral home.
