Patsy Ann Carroll

April 20, 1933 — March 13, 2019

Patsy A. Carroll was born on April 20, 1933.  She went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2019 at the Rehabilitation Center at Life Care in Ooltewah, Tennessee.   Patsy had resided with her husband, Max, in Cleveland.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Max R. Carroll; her parents, George and Marjorie Ledford Clayton; and sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Glen Greene.

Patsy is survived by her sons David Carroll and John (Holli) Carroll, and grandsons Ben, Jax and Jerome Carroll.  She is also survived by her sister Judy (Dewayne) Hooper; niece Julia (Lee) Glover; nephew Gary (Diane) Greene; and niece Debbie (David) Watson.  She is also survived by Carroll family members in Fort Myers, Florida, including Jim Carroll and Pat Carroll; Janice Carroll (Steve) Lowery of Washington, D.C.; and numerous nephews and nieces in both the Clayton and Carroll families.

The family would also like to recognize Patsy’s special friend and caregiver, Karen McDonald, and the Unity Class of North Cleveland Church of God.

Patsy graduated from Bradley High School in Cleveland.  She was introduced to Max Carroll by a mutual friend, Sue Wolfe, at the Church of God General Assembly that was held in Cleveland, Tennessee.  Max always said that he first saw Patsy with cotton candy in one hand and an “all-day sucker” in another.  Patsy, who was known for her prodigious memory, disputed that account, as well as many other Carroll tales.

Patsy and Max were married at North Cleveland Baptist Church in 1957, in a service officiated by Rev. Thea Jones, the brother-in-law of Max.  Following the marriage, Max and Glen Greene became partners in the Clayton real estate firm, later named Carroll & Greene.  Patsy was known for the excellence of her Christian character, her good taste in color and style, and her high standards of managing the home.  She loved children, and was especially fond of babies.  Although the family grieves the passing of a beautiful woman, Patsy always knew that heaven was her home.

A celebration of her life will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2019 in the Sanctuary of North Cleveland Church of God with Dr. Mark L. Williams and Pastor Gary Sears officiating.  Danny Murray will provide some of Patsy’s favorite music, accompanied by Rev. Cy Harris.  The concluding service will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Lee Glover, Baron Carroll, Ryan Mundy, Dr. Michael Jones, Philip Douhne, and Jason Pitman serving as pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the church Sunday prior to the service.

Condolences and notes may be sent to Ralph Buckner funeral home or to Carroll and Greene Real Estate.

We invite you to send a message of condolence and view the Carroll family guestbook at www.ralphbuckner.com.

Ralph Buckner Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
