Ray Edward DeWeese, 91, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 in a local healthcare facility. He had lived in the area his entire life and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Bradley High School, King College in Bristol, TN, and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He was a self-employed geologist who did mineral exploration. One of his favorite pastimes was flying his plane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore D. DeWeese and “Pink” Standridge DeWeese; son, Ray Edward “Skip” DeWeese, Jr.; four sisters, and four brothers.
He is survived by three children, Kay Carringer (Dave) of Cleveland, Nancy Patrick (Terry) of Riceville, Margie Ann DeWeese-Boyd (Ian) of Georgetown, Massachusetts; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Dad is free from this world and its struggles. He transitioned quickly and peacefully. He is flying higher now than ever before. Soaring effortlessly into the unknown. Free.
