Betty Carolyn Cantrell

Betty Carolyn Alligood Cantrell, 83, a resident of Chattanooga, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019.  She was born in Sewanee, TN, but had lived in the area most of her life.  She was a member of Central Church of Christ in Cleveland.  She was a nurse and had worked at Bradley Memorial Hospital and TVA.  She loved her church, loved her BSF Bible Study Fellowship, and loved her dog, Lillie May.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Cantrell; and parents, Milton Alligood and Martha Jane Terrell Alligood.

She is survived by her two children, Mark Edward Cantrell and wife Tammy of Murfreesboro, and Kaye C. Roe and husband Dr. Michael Roe of Chattanooga; four grandchildren, Matthew Cantrell, Nikki Vasser, Chuck Roe, and Kristin Fralick; five great-grandchildren, Logan Lynch, Braelyn Lynch, Tyler Jackson, Dylan Vasser, and Layton Fralick; one brother, Joe Alligood of Rossville, GA; special caregivers, Glenda Armour, Cathy Triplett, and Nicki Boyd; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

A celebration of her life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Miller officiating.  Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Alvin Armour, Tim Gilbert, Michael Roe, Mark Cantrell, Matthew Cantrell, and Chuck Roe serving as pallbearers.  A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes will conclude the service.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
