J.C. Haun, 84, of Cleveland, passed away Friday, July 12, 2019 at his home. He was a member of New Hope Church of the Nazarene. He was a retired pastor and bus driver. He was a former city commissioner of Sweetwater; he ran for State Senate, was a member of the election commission and was the Republican Party Chairman and road superintendant for the state of Tennessee. He was a member of the United States Marine Corp.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Ernest Haun and Victoria Bible Haun; first wife Sara Jo "Pat" Haun; and son James "Jimmy" Ernest Haun.
He is survived by his wife Audrey Epperson Haun; children John Franklin Haun (Amy) of Cleveland, Howard Millsaps (Beth) of Benton, Joseph “Lonnie” Millsaps of Cleveland, Loretta Anna Boyd (Tim) of Benton; former daughter-in-law Kathy (Haun) Hawkins; grandchildren, James Ernest Haun, Jr. (Jaqueline), Jace Haun (Grace), Joshua Haun (Katherine), Andrew Underwood (Rhonda), John Franklin Haun, II, Phillip Eli Haun, Faith Sara Louise Haun, Chelsea Millsaps, Bailey Millsaps (Melissa), Hannah Millsaps (fiancé, Tanner Davis), Amber Boyd (fiancé, Devin), Morgan Boyd, James “Jimmy” Boyd; 9 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; brother Harold Haun and wife Nancy; nephews Rodney Haun (Karen) and Steve Haun (Jamie); several cousins also survive.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2019 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with the Reverend Daniel Ammons, Reverend Don Hawkins, and Doyle Mayton officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with James Haun, Jace Haun, Joshua Haun, Rodney Haun, Howard Millsaps, John Franklin Haun II serving as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes and full Military Honors will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 17, 2019 at the funeral home. The family invites friends to a drop in visitation Thursday, July 18, 2019 two hours prior to the service.
