Wallace LaRue Mays, 74, of Biloxi MS, passed away Friday, July 26, 2019 in a local hospital. Wallace and his wife just celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary on July 23rd. When they met she wrote a poem for him, “I heard a whisper on the wind, so gentle as it touched my skin, stirred the spirit without, within, with no beginning and no end. I love you too.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Bernice Mays and three sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lemara Daisy Hall Mays; children, William Edwin Mays (Tara) of Biloxi, MS and Lee Wallace Mays of Louisville, KY, grandchildren, William Mays, II, Brigand Mays and Milla Mays; one brother John Mays (Theresa) of Huntsville, AL and one aunt, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Wallace will be an organ donor and there will be no formal services at this time.
Ralph Buckner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the local Policemen, Firemen and first responders for their expeditious response and to the employees of the City Café Diner for their hospitality.
